En 1994, debutó en Corea Jinu como solista con la canción popular: "I Was the Captain".Yang Hyun-seok, ex miembro de Seo Taiji Boys (Actualmente Ceo de YG), se enteró de la fama Jinu y se reunió con él en Los Ángeles para formar el grupo poco después de Jinusean Sean se unió. El dúo tuvo como objetivo combinar letras en Inglés y coreano con el hip hop y el funk. Poco después de su creación, Jinusean finalmente debutóen 1997 con su primera canción, "Gasoline". Ganaron una cantidad enorme de popularidad con su segundo single "Tell Me" (feat. Uhm Jung Hwa), en su álbum debut.
