Biography

Gang Dong Won was born in Busan in a privileged environment. His father Gang Cheol Woo is the vice president of SPP Heavy Industries, ranked among the top ten shipping companies worldwide. Gang's family moved to Changwon when he was seven years old. Academically gifted from an early age with an IQ of 137, G ang was accepted at Hanyang University, one of the best universities in the country. He graduated with honors with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 2000, when Gang was a freshman at the university, he was discovered on the street by a modeling agent. Thus began her career as a model and appeared on the catwalk for the ready-to-wear collectionsin Paris, like DKNY, Gucci and Hugo Boss, as well as the Association of Seoul Fashion Artists (SFAA). After his participation in Jo Sung Mo's music video "I Swear," the experience captivated G ang, who decided to take some acting classes. Realizing that acting was what he had been looking for all his life, the revelation meant a change of career. He left modeling and made his acting debut on television in 2003, playing a doctor with a regional dialect in Country Princess (also known as Funny Wild Girl), and the son of a chaebol in One Percent of Anything .

Gang enlisted for mandatory military service on November 18, 2010 for four weeks of basic training at the Nonsan military camp in South Chungcheong. This was followed by his inactive obligation as a public service worker in the Institute of Public Health Research and the environment of the city of Seoul. He was released on November 12, 2012.
