Sinopsis[]
“MIXNINE” es un programa de competición de realidad en el que Yang Hyun Suk de YG Entertainment se dirige a diferentes agencias alrededor de Corea del Sur para encontrar a nuevos talentos.
Nueve varones y Nueve mujeres sobrevivirán a la ronda final. Entonces es el grupo masculino versus el femenino. 18 canciones en total, 9 para cada género. Y se dividirán en tipo de canciones, es decir, vocal, rap y baile. Luego se enfrentarán entre sí y el equipo ganador debutará como MIXNINE en abril del 2018.

Audiciones[]
Yang Hyun Suk audiciona participantes en diversas empresas de entretenimiento del país, eligiendo a los que encuentra más adecuados, estos son repartidos entre el bus de Entrenamiento y el Bus Debut creado solo para 9 trainees (entre chicos y chicas).
A mitad de la búsqueda realizaron una misión de un día donde los trainees ya escogidos aprendieron una coreografía en un tiempo corto y fue mostrada ante los jueces, los elegidos de estos pasan a la parte vocal, de allí quienes ganen van al bus de Debut. Tras eso continuan la busqueda.
Tras eso, les entregan la primera misión.
Las audiciones se mostraron desde el episodio 1 hasta el 3.
Misión 1: Showcase[]
El productor de YG, Teddy, entrega a los trainees (98 chicas y 72 chicos) su primera canción, Just Dance, la cual por grupos hechos según su nivel (Debut, A, B y C) de la primera evaluación, deben aprender una parte en 3 días, tras eso se grabaron y los jueces y mentores según como lo hicieron los movieron de grupo.
Antes del Showcase a través de VLIVE, el TOP9 de cada grupo presentaba la canción y los jueces cambiaron de nuevo los Integrantes para finalizar por fin la distribución de los Integrantes.
Primer Ranking. (50% votos del público, 50% voto de los jueces)
Los trainees tuvieron su segunda evaluación colocando sus posiciones del 49 al 1 y renovando el TOP9 de cada genero.
Esta misión fue televisada en el episodio 4.
Tras eso se enseño la segunda misión.
Misión 2: Batalla de posiciones[]
Los trainees se dividieron según su preferencia: Vocal, Rap o Baile. Las batallas eran por género.
El equipo ganador consigue 2000 puntos más.

Misión 3: Batalla de formación[]
En el episodio 7, 70 concursantes fueron eliminados, tras esta situación, a partir del episodio 8, las 46 concursantes restantes (femeninas) se separaron en cinco grupos, en los que interpretaron una canción y se clasificaron de acuerdo con los puntos de los Integrantes.

En el episodio 10 se llevaron a cabo las segundas eliminaciones. 27 participantes masculinos y 27 femeninos siguieron en competencia.
Misión 4: Batalla Individual:[]
Antes de la segunda eliminación se les dio a los participantes 3 nuevas canciones por genero (6 en total), tras escucharlas siguiendo el primer ranking eligieron a ciegas la canción que preferian, tras 3 días de practicarla se llevo a cabo la segunda eliminación, tras ella los equipos se modificaron para tener 9 Integrantes por grupo.
En esta misión quienes ganan la bonificación son tan solo los rankings 1, 2 y 3 más votados de cada grupo en el showcast, y tendrán de bonificación:

Semifinal[]
El episodio 13 comienza con una encuesta de los participantes realizada antes de la ronda de eliminación. Esta incluye Top 3 Visual, chico más ardiente, chica más llorona, chica más enérgica y chico más emocionado.
Durante la ronda de eliminación, los participantes entran al escenario con sus equipos de la misión anterior.
Los nombres de los mejores 18 aprendices son llamados uno por uno comenzando en el rango 15. Shin Ryujin conserva su primer rango, mientras que Kim Hyojin reemplaza a Woo Jinyoung por primera vez.
Cuatro nuevas canciones se anuncian después: "Come to Play" y "OMG" para niñas; "I Like It Too" y "What?" para niños. Los aprendices restantes eligen sus posiciones comenzando con el rango 18 hasta 1, con los aprendices de mayor rango se les da la ventaja de reemplazar a los aprendices de menor rango y enviarlos a otro grupo con otra canción.
Después de finalizar la distribución de los cuatro equipos al final del episodio, se muestran 12 presentaciones de audición de los participantes o actuaciones en vivo de acuerdo con sus posiciones: danza, rap, vocal.
Final[]
El episodio 14 fue transmitido en vivo, cinco días después del episodio anterior.
Luego de las presentaciones de las cuatro canciones dadas a conocer en el episodio final se pidió a la audiencia que votara por su participante favorito. Se sumarán los votos por género.
En la final , el equipo masculino le ganó al equipo femenino con un puntaje de 8,114 contra 7,866. Los puntajes se determinan con un 20% de votos en línea previos a la transmisión, un 30% de votos por texto durante el show en vivo, un 20% de preferencias de preferencia en línea antes de la transmisión y un 30% de puntaje de los jueces.

Controversia[]
El TOP9 masculino ganó al femenino en la batalla final con 8,114 mientras el TOP9 femenino obtuvo 7,866. El grupo ganador, como agradecimiento, hizo un V-LIVE días después de la final.
El 31 de enero del 2018, un noticiero informó que las Integrantes del equipo femenino de “MIXNINE” se estaban preparando para debutar, informando que YG Entertainment se estaba reuniendo con las Integrantes del equipo femenino final a principios de febrero para discutir sus contratos. En respuesta, varias de las agencias de las Integrantes negaron los informes con comentarios como: “Nunca hemos recibido tal oferta” y “Esta es la primera vez que escuchamos sobre esto”.
Una vez terminado el programa YG Entertainment quiso cambiar las condiciones del contrato original en el que se decia que los trainees estarían con YG Entertainment durante 7 meses, en la propuesta presentada por YG los trainees estarían con YG por 6 meses y con sus agencias originales por los 6 meses restantes, y así continuarían esto durante 3 años. Sin embargo las agencias no estaban de acuerdo pues ya tenían planes para los trainees. En medio de esta situación incierta se ha hablado de una Temporada MIXNINE 2. Las reacciones han sido negativas tanto en el plan de 3 años como en la posible segunda temporada.
Finalmente, el debut del grupo ganador fue cancelado. Las perdidas fueron de 6.4 millones de dolares (7 billones KRW) debido al fracaso del programa. Se presentaron demandas de parte de las agencias hacia YG Entertainment y de YG hacia las agencias.
Se dio a conocer que el día 30 de Agosto de 2018 se llevará a cabo la primer audiencia entre YG Entertainment y Happy Face Entertainment, en éste caso Happy Face exige 10,000,000 KRW (~$9,000 Dolares) en compensación por los daños psicológicos a sus trainees e incumplimiento de contrato, la audiencia se realizará en la Corte Central del Distrito de Seul y será llevado como un caso civil.

- Yang Hyun Suk hizo este programa porque muchas compañías tienen problemas para ayudar a sus idols, ya sea para debutarlos por problemas económicos, o porque después de haberlos debutado éstos no son reconocidos. También es una forma de dar a conocer a los trainees de las compañías pequeñas y de que practiquen; ya que algunos no han entrenado lo suficiente para ser idols.
- Muchos artistas y productores asociados con YG Entertainment aparecieron en el programa.
- El productor del programa, Han Dong Chul explicó: “Pensé el concepto de ‘MIXNINE’ mientras planeaba PRODUCE 101".
- El equipo de producción se reunió con alrededor de 900 aprendices de 100 agencias.
- El 28 de octubre todos los trainees que consiguieron pasar las primeras audiciones fueron presentados individualmente a través de un showcase y tuvieron una actuación de la canción de presentación oficial de programa "Just Dance" producida por Teddy, activo colaborador de la YG.
- El día 29 de septiembre fue lanzado el primer teaser mostrando a 384 participantes de 400.
- Hubo un total de 170 participantes que pasaron la audición.
- A través del showcase de presentacion se reveló el primer Top 9 masculino y femenino.
- Los trainnes estan clasificados en cuatro categorias 1ª Grupo debut(TOP 9), A Class, B Class y C Class.
- Los aprendices que lograron asegurar un lugar en el autobús de debut tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la famosa cafetería de YG Entertainment
- Según la encuesta de calificación de Nielsen Corea, MIXNINE obtuvo una calificación de 0.958% para su episodio del 26 de noviembre, una fuerte tendencia a la baja desde el 1.301% de la semana anterior teniendo como resultado una de las calificaciones más bajas en la historia del canal. Si bien en declaraciones se tomó como algo ligero expresando la naturalidad de la tendencia a la baja después de las audiciones en los programas de supervivencia en general, las elecciones cuestionables de Yang Hyun Suk en el programa, la inconsistencia y la inequidad de los tiempos al aire de los participantes generó criticas negativas y falta de entusiasmo por parte de los televidentes.
- La segunda misión se llevo a cabo el 11 de Diciembre, tras la primera eliminación el 4 de Diciembre. Solo se salvaron 99 participantes entre chicos y chicas, sin importar el género, solo las votaciones.
- Las integrantes de Dreamcatcher que pasaron las audiciones se retiraron del programa debido a que no pudieron coordinar sus promociones en el extranjero con las grabaciones del programa. Si bien, podían regresar a la competencia pasada la segunda ronda ellas lo consideraron injusto hacia el resto de los participantes. Esta información fue liberada por la agencia del grupo el día 10 de diciembre de 2017.
- En el episodio 10 fueron eliminados 44 participantes quedando con un total de 54, 27 chicos y 27 chicas.
- El top 9 de trainees (chicos y chicas, con un total de 18) asistieron al segundo día del concierto de BIGBANG realizado el 31 de Diciembre, como un regalo de navidad por parte de Yang Hyun Suk.
- El 8 de Enero las participantes Lee Sujin, Lee Soomin y Kim Bowon sufrieron un accidente de tránsito mientras su manager manejaba, rápidamente fueron dirigidas al hospital. Bowon y Soomin sufrieron heridas leves mientras que Sujin fue la más afectada y tuvo una cirugía. Por su bienestar y recuperación ha acordado con su familia y staff del programa que la mejor opción es abandonarlo.
