The Lover from Faraway is an 2024 Philippine-Australian noir romance mystery streaming television series directed by Jose Javier Reyes and written by Ray Alchin, Sandra Levy and, Baz Luhrmann. The project was developed on September 14, 2019 and continued in 2022 but was postponed due to other cases of illness in Australia and the director continued Reyes in December 2022 and shot near July or August 2023, that will air on The Regional Channel in Australia. The Lover from Faraway is a story about a twelve friends who are graduating students who were given access by their teacher to his island in Boracay for them to spend ten days enjoying the upcoming graduation at their school and their teacher chooses them to wander early in the morning before nightfall and a headless person eats insects around and the person is the guide. It stars, Justin Rick Alonzo, Waynona Collings, Caitlyn Stave, Liana Mae, Princess Aliyah, Kiel Gueco, Luke Alford, Jeremiah Lisbo, Isaiah dela Cruz, Emilio Daez, Kaori Oinuma and, Kirsten Gonzales. The existence of a second season of the series has not yet been announced due to the critical reviews given by the tastes.
It is scheduled to be broadcast on The Regional Channel in Australia in November 25, 2024. This series will also be released on the Kapamilya Channel in 2025. It was declared as a new version group of the previous group Bloody Crayons. The Lover from Faraway has been identified as a group that has replaced the cast members of Bloody Crayons according to ages. The series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting November 29, 2024, and the series will also be aired in other countries that will receive from the network that will be released for the series and the series is rated 18 and above.
Synopsis[]
The Lover from Faraway is a psychological thriller about twelve graduating students— Franklin (Justin Rick Alonzo), Keanna (Waynona Collings), Abbey (Caitlyn Stave), Nevaeh (Liana Mae), Isabella (Princess Aliyah), Maximus (Kiel Gueco), Salvadore (Jeremiah Lisbo), Andrew (Luke Alford), Wyatt (Isaiah dela Cruz), Theodore (Emilio Daez), Rebecca (Kaori Oinuma) and, Julia (Kirsten Gonzales) who are given a very special opportunity by their teacher to spend ten days on his private island in Boracay as a graduation gift. The group eagerly waits to enjoy their time together before they go their separate ways in life. However, things take a dark and unsettling turn for them when their teacher asks them to explore the island early in the mornings just before nightfall. While exploring they come across an eerie figure-a headless man who walks around the island eating insects. This headless person is ominously called "the guide" who appears to be watching over the group while they are traversing through the island's landscapes.
With time, bizarre events and tensions among the group members increase and unveil hidden secrets, old grudges, and pent-up emotions. Friends begin to question their reality, their relationships with one another, and the nature of the island—and if they can trust the teacher who sent them there. Once a peaceful haven, the island now becomes a deathly challenge as the friends have to unravel the mystery of their beheaded guide and overcome their own inner evil before their ten days on the island turn into a hauntingly desperate end.
