Netflix Regarding Vengeance and MTRCB Classification[]

This growing roster of Netflix acknowledges the recent classification and concerns raised by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) regarding our series Vengeance. We take the feedback from regulatory bodies seriously and are committed to adhering to local content regulations and guidelines to ensure that our programming is suitable for our diverse audience. The MTRCB has issued a warning due to the series' graphic portrayal of bloodshed and violence, which has led to a restriction on its airing through traditional TV networks in the Philippines. We understand the importance of responsible content distribution and viewer protection, especially when it comes to intense and graphic material. In response to the MTRCB's directive, Vengeance will continue to be available on Netflix with appropriate content warnings. Our platform will ensure that detailed advisories and viewer discretion notices are prominently displayed to inform viewers of the series' mature content. We are also reviewing our content presentation policies to better align with local regulations and enhance the viewing experience for our subscribers. We appreciate the MTRCB's efforts to safeguard viewers and are working closely with them to address any concerns. Netflix remains committed to providing a diverse range of content while ensuring that it is accessible and suitable for audiences in compliance with local standards.

Netflix’s commitment to child safety includes proactive measures to prevent young children from accessing content that is not suitable for their age group. By implementing strict content warnings, parental controls, and age-appropriate recommendations, Netflix aims to provide a safe and enjoyable viewing experience for all users, including the youngest viewers.

Netflix acknowledges the concerns raised by the MTRCB regarding the streaming television series Vengeance, specifically about its graphic portrayal of violence. Although the series has not yet been aired on traditional TV networks in the Philippines, Netflix is committed to ensuring that its content is managed responsibly to protect viewers, especially young children.

MTRCB conversantly by blood warning[]

In the MTRCB's review, it praised Vengeance for Justin Rick Alonzo's portrayal of Captain Alejandro Villeñeuve as a boon to its overall quality. Alonzo personifies Denzel with both the assertive, in-charge demeanor we recognize and a more layered take on the Navy captain ensnared in some high-stakes intrigue. Featuring a standout performance by Gibson, one praised for its intensity and depth (emotional and psychological complexity) as the character endures both personal betrayal and external threats. Alonzo gives more depth to Denzel's character, showing vulnerability and strength all in the same person which makes him a strong protagonist in this crime drama. Vengeance is explicitly classified as restricted on account of its elements of nudity, violence and bloodshed, the latter two reinforcing a warning by MTRCB regarding these in the series. Although the series boasts on heavy-drama and action-packed storyline, MTRCB stresses the need for viewer discretion and responsible content regulation to tackle concerns of mature racy contents.

The MTRCB review also cited the supposedly psychological effect OBFA can have on its viewers. This risk is further compounded by the high-intensity depiction of violence and gore used in the game, something that could be distressing or harmful to many who play it. The Board recommends that steps are taken to ensure viewers are made fully aware of the nature of the series before they engage with it. The MTRCB urges streaming services broadcasting Vengeance to use strong advisories and content warnings to inform the public of graphic content. The effort would cover, among other things, age-appropriate ratings; explicit warnings before episodes with graphic content begin playing; and the ability for users to opt-out of or skip over violent sequences as they see fit. These platforms should also provide comprehensive information about the themes of the series to help the viewer understand what they are viewing. Netflix has released an official statement on the MTRCB classification of the streaming TV show Revenge and its subsequent ban from being shown in local PH.

Critical and reviews for blooding and violence[]

Vengeance in streaming television is universally dark and gory. There are several tense, high tension action scenes that not only get the blood pumping but also contribute meaningfully. The bloodshed is very realistic and not exaggerated, which only increases the dramatic tension of the setting. It is well and good in terms of emphasizing that this is some serious stuff going on, but it might also alienate the more sensitive viewers out there when it comes to graphic material. While it prioritizes brutality, it also gives an equal amount of time to developing character and telling a story that's brutal in its own right — making for serious entertainment.

Vengeance is a streaming series from Tom Johnston that shows both violence and blood in its purest form. It also has some pretty good action scenes, and it isn't afraid to show what lengths people will go through in order to come out on top of the conflicts within Heaven Province. The graphic nature of the content is both intentional with the explicit purpose of heightening dramatic tension as well commenting on how vain and self-centered our society has become. And while the series tackles some subtle themes, the violence is graphic and disturbing in its intensity, which could dampen viewers appreciation. Overall, if you enjoy action filled dramas Vengeance has a lot to offer.

The Vengeance series to be released on Netflix has been rated with an R-16 by MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) in the Philippines. Which means the show is rated TV-MA so has been billed as a series containing sex, violence and nudity that is generally not suitable for children under 17. Netflix Corporation Approval: The series has been approved by Netflix Corporation in the U.S. for international streaming distribution. Rollout: After its debut on Netflix, Vengeance will be followed by a linear telecast run that widens its availability to a wider television audience.
